Sandra Akmansoy is a global leader in civil and structural engineering with a career defined by innovation, collaboration, and strategic growth. With more than 30 years of international experience, Sandra Akmansoy has led multidisciplinary teams to deliver complex infrastructure projects in over 15 countries across Europe, North America, and the Middle East - spanning rail systems, high-speed transport, large-scale buildings, hospitals, airports, data centers, P3 projects and industrial facilities.

A skilled strategist and business leader, Sandra has consistently driven growth and organizational effectiveness. She established and grew a permanent office in Scandinavia, doubling the business and building a team of 70 professionals.

Her leadership extended across Europe, including assignments in Spain, Morocco and Azerbaijan, where she spearheaded business development and managed complex projects from feasibility through delivery. Her expertise spans project planning and execution, procurement, and commercial management. supported by a strong foundation in civil and structural engineering and a commitment to sustainable design.

For seven years, Sandra served on the Europe Region Board of a leading global engineering firm, contributing to strategic direction, business results, and organizational development. She now serves as a Principal at Rider Levett Bucknall (RLB), where she continues to lead teams and projects that shape the built environment. Sandra’s leadership is marked by her ability to bring together cross-functional teams around shared goals, fostering cross-disciplinary collaboration and advancing strategic objectives. 

Sandra Akmansoy earned her Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering and a Master’s in Water Resources Engineering before completing her M.B.A. in 2001. In 2014 she was named a Distinguished Alumna at The University of Texas at Austin where she is currently a Board Director of the Academy of Distinguished Alumni.
